The Blue Within
Chisin’s canvases begin in fury. Raw gestures and restless colors are gradually enveloped by layers of cobalt blue, softening the chaos without erasing it. Through cracks and openings, vivid bursts of color emerge, revealing the turbulent emotions that continue to stir beneath the surface.
Shaped by life in a country fractured by conflict, Chisin searches for the precise blue that might offer him a moment of refuge. This deeply personal pursuit led to YO Yo, his own blue pigment, crafted for him in Florence. It becomes a means of holding the storm within, giving overwhelming emotion a form, a boundary, and a momentary stillness.
Rooted in the humanist tradition of his French upbringing, the series also carries an urgent call: “Do not forget!” Personal experience meets collective memory, raising questions about how art can bear witness to suffering and how creation remains possible in the aftermath of profound trauma.
The blue never fully conceals what lies beneath. Its apparent calm remains alive with tension, inviting the viewer to look closer and discover the colors, fractures, and memories it holds.
Within this fragile balance, Chisin finds a temporary peace: a brief shelter from recurring violence and loss, before the next wave of trauma rises.
