YORAM CHISIN - ABSRACT ART

Floating Squares

Wounded by Reality confronts the lasting human cost of war. Drawing on Chisin’s experience of conflict and loss, the series brings attention to wounds that remain long after the fighting ends.

Brilliant colors initially suggest vitality, even celebration. Closer attention reveals bandages absorbed into the work, saturated with pigment and carrying the suggestion of injuries that resist healing. Materials associated with care become bearers of memory.

This tension exposes the distance between the language of victory and the lived experience of suffering. While public remembrance often elevates those who died, the wounded can find themselves pushed into the background, expected to resume a life that has been profoundly altered.

Chisin gives these experiences a visible, material presence. His works ask what it means to return to “normal” when the effects of war continue within the body and mind. They invite a sustained encounter with survival, vulnerability, and the need to be seen.
